I always feel bad for the dogs and cats of the world whenever we celebrate with fireworks. I wish I could explain to them that they're safe (if you're not dumb) and pretty.
I've been thinking about what you've written for a bit. I don't know how people are where you live, so maybe I'm being naive, but I found it's easier if you make the first step and rip the band aid off. My situation is a little different than yours, since I've already got a friend group, but I used to not interact with them much and be reclusive as well.
