i think the reason is that as a social network, neocities is (currently) broken. I do 100% believe in the power of personal websites. But there's an asymmetry: Site authors can express themselves deeply and readers get a very intimate look at someone... but the inverse is not true. So authors (at least me) end up feeling lonely or smth. i have 46,000 hits but it feels like nothing. not like im connecting with someone

You seem somewhat...ambivalent...on this subject. :chuckle: I also find these things weird and disconcerting. Jquery is a tiiiny library and there are a million cool fonts to download on the web. Also, please stop using Bootstrap. lol

The social networking aspects of this platform seem mostly auxiliary. They're well augmented by the main purpose of the site. It has a sorta members club guestbook vibe to me.
