thinking about how to do CJK fonts again ( ;´ `) right now i'm not loading any CJK fonts, so the rendering of CJK characters depends on the device on the user side. CJK fonts (esp. ones for palaeography/philology needs) are large assets and would considerably slow down page loading time, so i need to do something like font subsetting, and i need to figure out how to do that dynamically…

yeah the Possibilities of multiword shift pairs! i don't think there can be an easy automated way to find them though… pensive emoji

spent about 2 hours to catch up on the major eleventy upgrade last year—the website is powered by eleventy v3 now. i have no idea what i'm doing so if anything is broken please let me know!

revamped the home page design—i honestly think it looks super cute now ^ ^ also reworked how blockquotes work, they are much more visually distinct now; reworked tables so they look less cramped; changed the # of main fonts from 4 to 3 so hopefully the blogpost pages now look much more stylistically cohesive. also fixed a small problem related to scroll-padding.

before my months of absence i was losing steam a bit with this site: there were lots of small problems i had with the design that felt daunting to fix. it turns out most of them can kind of be very easily fixed—the above fixed most of them! honestly i don't know what i was intimidated with. anyway i was trying to say that i'm so so happy that i came back to this. yippie !!
with ~~ other commitments ~~ in life i haven't really written anything or touched the code of this site in quite a bit... might start writing something soon. hopes tentatively
