Sometimes he talks about my characters as though they are real people which I find endearing… I like it when people come up with headcanons for my characters.
I've had similar conversations with my girlfriend about characters in my fiction. I think this is one of the unexpected benefits of making comics/writing stories: your characters become a reference point for all sorts of conversations you might not have otherwise. Other people use your characters to understand you better.
once when i was a kid I had some characters that got really popular, but it's been a couple years. there was a kid recently who said they were gonna make an oc inspired by them and that was surprising but exciting. it's so cool to think that one's stories can take a life of their own in the minds of others
@ Saddleblasters & Faoggot, it’s really quite interesting because a lot of the comic and its characters are drawn from real-life experiences I’ve had or people I’ve met. Or myself, of course. There are a lot of parallels to real life there, and a lot of them are only apparent once someone else I know brings them up because it’s wholly unconscious for me.
My characters have kind of taken a life of their own and live in my head rent-free. LOL. I’d love to talk about them more but I can’t due to my fear of spoiling the comic’s unreleased contents or annoying people who don’t care that much.
same thing with my girlfriend, she makes headcanons of my characters and talks about them as if they were real lol, it's silly
