your interactive sticker is a neat concept (i think i might make one), but do you have a non-js alternative?

thinking about accessibility on my site cuz i wanna join accessible net...i dont think im the worst, but i def have some areas for improvement. some tricky things include toggling gifs on my links page, a light mode, and redoing the homepage to not be entirely 3d.

i took a look and the gifs look ok to me! i don't think i saw any rapid bright flashing, so a gif toggle would be a nice bonus but not a requirement. :> would love to have you on there when you're done though!

btw for the alt text section, i dont think `alt="null"` works for purely decorative images. trying it in firefox with narrator, and it announces it literally as "null" instead of ignoring it.

yeah, for purely decorative images, alt="" (without any content between the quotation marks) is sufficient

I read something by someone with low vision saying that an empty alt tag made them think the person had just forgotten to leave an alt tag, while a null tag let them know it was something unimportant :0

alt="" *is* the null attribute? leaving it blank would mean not tacking on the alt attribute in the first place.

i think this post was written for people posting on social media platforms that provide an alt text field (in other words, sites that aren't handcoded) - that's where writing "null" would make sense.

for the record that source was recommended to me, so I apologize if it turned out not to be what most people use!

the fact that i figured out how to make a custom thumbnail on neocities so my homepage shows up correctly is more showing that my homepage shouldnt just be an entire 3d scene

pinkvampyr its kinda hacky, but you detect the user agent for headless chrome and just overlay an image. heres my script if you want it: https://dabric.neocities.org/custom-banner.js

Just use the library so much that it's worth having there to begin with! Svelte is there so you don't reinvent the wheel, so make it a supercar!

kallistero very true, but thats also ironically the issue. i just have a lot of code that i wrote lol. maybe im just overthinking tho, but also like 165kb transferred of html, css, and js...

That's smaller than a background image! If my page is being slow, it's because I let users just stuff one of my pages with lots of JavaScript effects. The devil's how much it takes to RUN the code as much as it's in how much it takes to load it. In F12, there's a "Memory" tab where you can see the JS heap size, and there's also a "Performance" tab where you can take a snapshot of where the page is putting resources.

never really got the point of entrance pages, like why not just have the page linked be your homepage? genuine question btw

i actually think it's trying to imitate something like the cover of a book that you open to see what's inside
