On a similar note, the thing that drives me nuts is when the TOS states that you are only "licensing" a piece of media that you paid for, and that file has telemetry that keeps it from opening when you aren't online and logged into an account.
DRM, subscription-based services, microtransactions, etc. make media preservation harder as well. It would seem that many companies no longer sell products, they sell access.
Oh I feel you on that one. If i come across anything like that I go out of my way to find a "clean" version. Nothing will stop me.
And why I don't "subscribe, lol" to streaming services (except for Marvel Unlimited)
