Yeahhh do it ! (custom cursor on hover is : style="cursor: url('your-custom-cursor-file-path.png'), pointer;" in html or the content between "" in your css file in the class you want to hover on)

Oh Iv'e heard of those custom cursors! that's the thing when you change the arrow/hand into a lizard or whatever else you want, right?

@anolesquailsandmaybecattails yep ^^ (the one on my website are vintage hands for example) You simply use an appropriate size image file and you can change it for the whole page and/or just when hovering on specific places. (And you add auto or pointer etc after the image file in case the image isn't found so that you still have the default pointer)

@datura, cool! I've seen that! Maybe this was explained in the code you gave, (I'm pretty new at coding) but how do you make the cursor like that on all of the website pages? Do you just have to copy and paste the code to all of the other pages, or does the code cover that? Hopefully this question makes sense

i did some nice renovations to the Secret World of Gnomes section, added some new paintings by Poortvliet, and then i redrew a gnome on the Lore page in a newer style, since i've had some more practice! check it out: https://gnomes.neocities.org/gnomes/shire.png !!

maybe i should've used a base from the start LOL! i made my site totally from scratch myself which i'm really proud of, but i'm realising from my friends using bases by Pros that mine is really ill-organised... it works for me though, and i guess nobody else really has to look at the code... so i'll keep doing it my way :-)

honestly i think yours is perfect BECAUSE you didn't use a base, you made that all yourself and it's kind of like knitting a blanket vs buying one

i love your site's aesthetics, and the fact file on the texas star hibiscus is really cool to read through! it's very interesting to learn about the plants of other countries and i'm excited to see more! also, the dyslexia-friendly font change is such a great addition, even just for people with bad eyesight too like myself. what an awesome site!! i hope you had a lovely weekend!

i tried to use the style.css sheet that comes with the site, and was converting over universal stuff... when suddenly the CSS got wiped clean to before i worked on it today? i have no idea where the stuff went, if i ctrl+z it just says "Loading..." and i don't know what's happened... can anyone please help? (edit) i just copied over elements back from other parts of the site for now to undo that Huge Mistake

I’ve noticed sometimes when editing css, it doesn’t show up immediately when you return to the editor, even though the changes have been saved. I’d just do a hard refresh, and wait to see if it comes back, but make sure you’ve saved a copy elsewhere just in case. Sometimes it takes a long while to show up, but using a different browser can sometimes work.

I had this problem earlier. Best thing to do is just wait and/or hard refresh as rosie said, it does show up in time

thank you guys for the help! i may try again with depending on it for my styling in the future now that i know it's not gone forever :-)
just adding the code showed to me by @datura that will make my custom cursor appear on links and buttons :-) once halloween is over, i'm going to design (or maybe find....) a custom cursor to use permanently across the site!
