Best country in the world is the UK. Worst is Mauritania. I will not be taking questions at this time.
Well, every country in Sahel region is not great, but not because they are not interesting, but rather horribly underdeveloped. Mauritania have that cool circular mysterious 'Atlantida' thing and those super long trains for example. But yeah, it was the last country to outlaw the slavery so you've got merit.
Portugal seems much beautiful, but I only ever visited England so maybe the other three Beatles might change my mind ;)
My argument for Mauritania is that it has the most missed potential. Theoretically, it should be one of the coolest places on earth — coastal Sahara(!) with a fusion of Arab and Amazigh culture. But it's not. It's just a very grim place where there's still a black market for slavery and people force-feed their wives.
Medium-sized cities are the best. I live in a town of ~30,000 connected by bus to a modest urban area of ~800k total, with tonnes of farmland and nature in between, and i wouldn’t have it any other way.
The rural nature in the walking/biking distance from the city is a blessing, the only thing missing might be a direct train line to the big city
