Are you sure you want to do this?
if i were to redo the website, i'd probably keep the orange-glow design from v2 / v5, but it'd be completely rewritten to hopefully include far less spaghetti. i'd probably also try and paginate the weird al collection so that it's easier to manage. i don't know if you know this, but the built in neocities editor doesn't handle 4,024 lines of HTML code all that well. it's not that big a deal for most sites on
neocities, but when you're documenting every minor piece of weird al garba- memorabilia, you don't want there to be multiple seconds of input delay. the main problem, though, is that i don't want to have to split it into multiple pages. if anything, i'd probably just keep editing it locally and reuploading the file once i've made the necessary changes.
a few other notes, the "about me" page feels very much like something i wrote a year ago, and i don't feel like it fits the person i am now. the music page feels barren compared to how much I love some of the music i listen to, there's stuff in the main page that should be tucked into the basement section, there's stuff in the basement section that should be brought to the main page, and it all just feels so loosely
cobbled together when compared to other sites on neocities. for example, i dont know if it's still uploaded, but as recently as 2023, i had a scott the woz shrine... that hadn't been updated since 2021. there's probably a few corners of my site filled with cobwebs and dust that i still have yet to clean up.
also, on that note, there are still pages i've made, and then failed to connect to the rest of the site with a link. i probably see more of the flaws with my site than anyone else, but that doesn't make me want to clean it all up any less.
and one last thought before i shuddup (mainly because i'm probably about to run up against the 10-comments-a-day limit) there are side projects of mine (various-tracks.neocities.org, namely) that probably are more deserving of a page in The Basement as opposed to a whole seperate website. I'll probably get on that soon, too
I relate to a lot of this! I wonder whether I should merge Verrerdise, my Verivery fan site, into a subsection of my site. And though it's not quite 4000 lines like yours, my blog can give me difficulties often since I write a lot, and so my blog pages often lag the Neocities editor. That's one of the main reasons I want to buy supporter, so I can edit it on my computer instead!
And I just updated my site and remembered that my updates page is the worst! It's currently at something like 2200 lines, and I might just need to make it into a text file or something because, like with your Weird Al page, this thing has at least a second of lag each time I type or scroll or anything.
Even if the input delay weren't an issue, I'd still prefer editing locally because then you a) always have a copy and b) can save changes as you work without actually publishing them/spamming your feed. Re: purplehello98: You can still edit locally with a free account (I basically always use the CLI to push my updates), though the WebDAV access supporters get does sound like it might be more straightforward.
