Finished watching the new episode of Channel 5's All Creatures. One thing that lets the series down is the dishonesty that it implies the characters had, which doesn't sit well with me. It implies that Siegfried was married more than once, Helen is a tart, among other things. In this episode Siegfried's lie to Tristan about Tristan passing his exams is revealed to him. The problem is that the characters are based on
real people, so any misrepresentation or exaggeration of character flaws reflect badly on the person (even if they are gone) and causes problems for any living members of their family. It isn't right to do this for entertainment and the 'drama' should concentrate on the animals instead. The real life vet that Siegfried's character is based on wasn't keen on the books as a whole, and he didn't like how he was
portrayed in the BBC series despite the fact that he met Robert Hardy and Robert Hardy did his best to portray him as accurately as he could. I'd hate to think what he'd think of this is he was still alive.
