my sis used 2 be obsessed w him , she had posters, books, tshirts with his face on lol. she always tried 2 teach me the lyrics 2 "sorry"
@arandomsite Did not listen to Yummy, at least from what you say, he has improved.
I've never been a fan personally, but he does have a high level of singing skill. This is more evident on his acoustic performances [Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KXQ9eQxnuU].
@sparklelollipop I knew that song as The Unofficial Canadian National Anthem.
@letslearntogether I remember his early "before he was famous" (acoustic) days, but only vaguely. Thank you for bringing these up..
pop music makes me uncomfortable I DONT LIKE HEARING ABOUT UR RELATIONSHIPS MR JUSTIN BIEBER:(
I was indifferent about his music, but his personality... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYuIoFai3Sw
The only two songs from him I listen to are “Beauty and a Beat” and “Power”; their production compensates for Bieber’s voice
I was obsessed with Hamtaro when it was originally on Toonami as a little kid. I had a spare "Attic" style room I decorated entirely in Hamtaro junk and used to dream about opening a Hamtaro themed sunflower seed restaurant when I got older. Obviously that didn't happen but this brings back great memories, thanks for that.
You are welcome. I used to know of a couple of other Toonami anime fan sites too, stay tuned.
I have no strong feelings on this series in particular either way, but I think "funny" series are the hardest to critique since humor is so subjective. I rarely find anime "funny" as much as I enjoy it, with rare exceptions that tend to fit my bizarre sense of humor. I think I'm like the last person in the world to fondly remember Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo for instance. (1/2)
I don't HATE Panty & Stocking, but I feel about it about like I do Family Guy. I can acknowledge why it's supposed to be funny and I get why people like it but somehow it just doesn't make me laugh. I have been told that the dub changed a LOT in P&S though, especially humor wise--not sure if the original is any "funnier" or not. (2/3 actually lmao)
There are rare series where I enjoy the original scripts but find the dubs "funnier" and more clever in their writing even when they change too much--Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and Keroro Gunsou being the main examples off the top of my head. I do wonder if I'd feel that way about P&S in reverse since the dub humor doesn't "land" for me, but I haven't honestly cared enough about the series to try that... (3/3)
I watched the dub, so I may start from the ground up watching it subtitled. The review has been put off until at least December for now.
That sounds like a good call. I admire the hustle but I don't think anybody should expect you to subject yourself to an experience you find this unenjoyable, not even yourself!
I think a problem you might be having (and a problem a lot of people have when interacting with various low brow anime) is that it's just not meant to be taken very seriously. And some people aren't able to enjoy media in a non serious way, which is totally valid. PSG is like a lowbrow 80s sexploitation ultraviolence hentai OVA, or a Go Nagai property. It's bad by design
Don't force yourself to watch it if you're really not enjoying it just for a review, there's better gainax/trigger series out there. PSG is literally just anime Sausage Party. Your writings on the series sound like you're in physical pain lolol take care of yourself!!
Sounds good, I might take a break from it, I have a surprise review about a donghua that I think the community would like to know about.
