I was looking for a simple reading challenge for next year, nothing complicated, just something to motivate me to read unread books, but all I have found are reading prompt lists, kind of like Inktober. It wouldn't work for me because I like reading series, so it would be unlikely that that the ones I want to read would fit a prompt, not that I really care about it anyway. Fulfilling a prompt is not what I'm looking

for when choosing a book.

I don't like the NHS at the best of times but one of the main reasons I hate dealing with it is because my partner finds a way of messing it up, every single time. When I went to have the Covid Jab done, he had me running around the local shops when I should have been on the bus to the appointment. I allegedly have an appointment next week but he never sent the e-mail to my inbox so all I have is a cryptic message

on his phone... And now the dog is supposed to be scared... Fucks sake, stop blaming me for something you didn't do. You make it more stressful than it needs to me.

On the day I had a hospital appointment, he also got us on the wrong bus...

Sometimes, I don't think the publishers get the right narrators for an audiobook.
It would be nice if there was a listening service which you could join for sci-fi and fantasy. I'm fed up of waiting for Listening Books to update their catalogue.

I've been watching Hornblower's The Frogs and the Lobsters. It's almost a parody...
There is a great dane having an operation on it's knee and it's making my dodgy left knee hurt in sympathy just by watching it.
Ah - there seems to be a conspiracy among bookcase manufacturers to put people off buying non-fiction books. I bought these, because the listing said that the shelves were adjustable, but they aren't so I suspect that they won't fit the oversized large non-fiction books that I have. Even more bizarre, the bookcase appears to be two bookcases that you join together, with the smaller one on top of the bigger one, but

on the plus side, they have solved the problem of the dodgy back that has a tendency to come off if you push books onto it too far.

I'm going to watch the next episode of Hardaches, do a crumble and then see if I can get one of the bookcases up. I just hope that there is enough space for most of the unshelved books.
