Also, by the way, is hotlinking images *actually* bad or no? I know that the reason people say that it is is because it steals bandwidth. However, I've also seen far more experienced Neocities site owners say that bandwidth a problem for Mr. Kyle Neocities, not the webmaster. It's in Neocities' ToS that hotlinking isn't allowed, but that seems to be referring to people using Neocities as if it's an image host.
afaik it's mostly just bad practice & how if you hotlink to someone, they may change their file structure and suddenly your images are broken more so than it being a genuine leech of bandwidth.
Yeah, seconding all that. Some people also encourage you to hotline their image when they are more confident in their file structure and like changing their buttons or adoptables. It also allows them to define what information they would want to attach to their link (like an alt description). I also would take a current hotlink over a future deadlink, so seeing a missing image helps me take not of shutdowns.
