Did you ever find out a new way to get a hit counter on Neocities? I kind of miss that part of my site!

Three years on Neocities today. 635 followers and two and a half million views. 29 million hits overall. Thanks to everyone who enjoys the site, and maybe one day I can actually be on the front page.

Thanks everyone. Got so much just sitting on my hard drive, ready to be memorialized online, but need the time and motivation. Perhaps if I didn't insist on giving each page some novel presentation.

Yes. It's the same method really but I needed a new server to act as the middleman. Bill from BillsWorld graciously provided his assistance, so if you follow the tutorial again, it will provide you the correct link.
Nearly a year later I finally figured this out! It seems that the API link in plaintext changed from https://cors-anywhere.herokuapp.com/https://neocities.org/api/info?sitename=baloo to https://weirdscifi.ratiosemper.com/neocities.php?sitename=baloo
