i love the zone! you have great ideas. i am not the best with web matters but thinking about a communal online space makes my mind jump first to minecraft servers - which is funny because i haven't played minecraft in years!
and while 'nature is not discrete and designed' is certainly true, it might be interesting to note that ecosystems often thrive when they are stewarded as opposed to solely 'wild' ones. the forests of what we now call the americas were often mistaken by colonizers to be a purely wild, virgin landscape, when that is ofc untrue. 'forest gardens' and land that was stewarded can support more diversity than nature alone.
that was tangential but i just love rambling, hah! you did note that you wish you had people to bounce ideas off of, and i'd love to help, though i don't know how helpful i could be!
@Pleuro Stewarded ecosystems don't always have more diversity than wild ones. Terrestrail North America is a really unique case since most of the megafauna that maintained the ecosystem were wiped out and humans had to take over some of the roles. Context is really important when interpreting ecosystems.
@murid very true!! and the landscapes of america are more relevant to some people than others since, well, a hell of a lot of people don't live there
you're constantly inspiring me to push myself to make my website more aligned to a visual language that i yearn to achieve, but often times feel like i'm not skilled enough to try. i love this mind map you've created (i also love being nosy but i feel like that's a lot of us on here) and it makes me want to try and figure out how to build my own!!
while i do not live there nor have much expertise on it, i do know that the amazon rainforest was heavily stewarded before colonization. something interesting for me to look into some time, perhaps!
sorry for replying so late!! i got really swamped by work this week ;u; @pleurodelinae @murid tysm for reading / building on my thoughts! i think this is exactly what i envisioned as "bouncing ideas off" and this takes my brain to new places: (generalizing) i can def see how stewardship can nurture certain ecosystems, like on the web some spaces benefit from having admins to host events or create prompts or mod
and @joebuck omg i'm extra flattered bc i love how your website in particular looks and feels ;u; tho i wish i knew how to build something like this lol bc i'm using https://kool.tools/domino2/ to generate and publish this page~~!
i feel like being nosy and nosied(???) is part of the neocities experience? ie. somehow there's more weight to my words here than sitting in a secret diary just by the fact other people can read them. my therapist was telling me that i desire to be seen and/or understood so that's probably that. please feel free to be nosy here :D
the domino tool that you used for your zone page is so cool! i may convert my garden to use that instead because it seems more fititng than what i have now
oh cool! yeah i really like how i feel freer to express my thoughts + the way they meander and change, i guess thats a basically garden :>
just some minor fixes. but a good time to plug the xmas page if you haven't checked it out before - happy holidays <3
ugh your xmas page is so cozy π© i love it so muchhhh
