has anyone else just been tapping into using smaller sites now for social media. like the only big social media i genuinely use now is instagram/discord and now i just browse small forums or find small sites. this method might be overpowered

oh yeah!! i only ever use discord for super close friends but i used instagram for my art at one point and now i just completely archived everything. switching to newgrounds was the best thing ever

Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia is worth checking out! It's a first person dungeon crawler, so it might take some time to get accustomed to the controls, but it's super fun to play!

You should try MUD2. It's an utterly ancient online game which still holds up rather well to this day. Granted, in terms of graphics it has no graphics, it has permadeath, but in terms of costs it's completely free nowadays, and the regular players are all pretty chill. Definitely worth trying; after all, you haven't lived until you've died in MUD.

Consider "The Dark Mod," a freeware Thief 1 / 2 game without the Intellectual Property. It truly is Thief 1 / 2 but built on the Doom 3 engine. Doesn't require Steam or any other online service.
