Hi ! Thanks for the add. How do you make those little buttons? Just a gif with a link? I'd like to make a page and include yours when it's done. (:

They're just images, so there can be many ways to create them. Sometimes I resize logos, or take a screenshot and crop. Others I dig in and assemble animations. They just need to be 88x31. Adding them is just a link around an image tag. Let me know if you'd like me to try and create one for you.

Oh gotcha. It's all good, I think I changed my mind about using buttons, you don't need to make me one. Thanks though!

Thank you sir.

Hi. I think we've figured out a fix for the Hitcounter code. Just requires changing the URL referenced. I've updated the fix on the tutorial: https://dannarchy.com/tut/tut_002.html

I saw it earlier today. Thanks for the heads up and working with Bill on a solution, it loads very quick too.

Big thanks to Bill from Bill's World/Neo-Neighborhoods for helping me with the last piece to the puzzle in getting the native hitcounter to work. I've updated the code in my tutorial, so basically you just need to change the URL of where the data is being pulled and everyone should be back in business. Please go thank Bill and tell him that He-Man is the best.

Thank you for writing these scripts and sharing them! They're much more reliable than the squirrely third-party hit counter I've been using.

So the native Neocities hitcounter will no longer work. I had to use a third party connection in order to access the data, which was a product of the browser not allowing a direct connection. It was always a point of failure, and I didn't anticipate it lasting forever. As of this month, it shut down.

I did try to create my own and had something replicating the data using PHP on my other hosting company, but when I tried to link to it, Neocities forces all HTTP links/embeds/calls into HTTPS. I see why, but I don't have any of my other domains running under certificates. I suppose I could try to see how much that costs, but it would only be to get this small thing to work, so I will see what I can do.

Oh no! I really appreciated the Native Neocities hit counter. Hopefully you can find a new solution.

Hi Dann, your native counter tutorial was very helpful. I knew the API had the data but never knew how to implement it without knowing a lick of code. I get that it relies on cors-anywhere.herokuapp.com as a proxy. Starting in February it broke and have to auth on their demo site, but it seems to work for 24 hours only. Can you recommend a native fix for this? https://github.com/Rob--W/cors-anywhere/issues/301

I figured at some point that this would happen. Ill see if there is an alternate method. The cross browser security is a huge barrier however
