I love your latest blog post "Light in the Dark." A transcendant or guiding purpose, whatever it is, always justifies patience and endurance. Too many today have lost any sense of a purpose and live in a daze, as if dead, and then consume entertainment and junk trying to fill that void a missing purpose left.

Thank you! Indeed. That is a very good point! I am often reminded of a famous Nietzsche quote, to paraphrase: "If I have a why, then I can endure any how." Without a clear why, many seem to be drifting through life, and the "bread and circuses" only serve to further distract them from their purpose. Unfortunately, when someone feels "burnt out" from the toil of the day, they can think of little else...

...consuming some "junk" (food, drugs, media) before they go to bed and repeat the process again the next day. This is a cycle that I hope I can help everyone to break, including myself. Thanks again!

I did try SMPlayer (I think MPV uses the same backend mplayer, right?) since it didn't have the same volume syncing issue. Unfortunately it wasn't able to open remote files! Just stuck with VLC for now. Does MPV do something better than VLC?

MPV has the advantage of offering a lot of features in a really small package, it has over 400 options and can load videos from URL.

Have you ever tried MPV ? VLC is bloated.

This is a neat little website blog sort of thing! I definitely agree with you on your article of switching to Linux. I use Debian regularly, I switched from Windows a while ago, and I've never truly contemplated installing Windows for long term every day usage. Updates and installing new software are painless processes with apt, my setup only uses 400 mb of RAM on idle, my theming looks zany, etc. Linux is great!

Thanks! The site's simple design comes from my laziness ;). Yes, Debian to me seems to sit in an excellent middle-ground between something totally manual (Slackware or Arch I suppose) and something almost entirely automated (Windows/*buntu/etc). It sure was fun building the system from the ground up like Slackware but with easier tools.
