Also, by the way, is hotlinking images *actually* bad or no? I know that the reason people say that it is is because it steals bandwidth. However, I've also seen far more experienced Neocities site owners say that bandwidth a problem for Mr. Kyle Neocities, not the webmaster. It's in Neocities' ToS that hotlinking isn't allowed, but that seems to be referring to people using Neocities as if it's an image host.

afaik it's mostly just bad practice & how if you hotlink to someone, they may change their file structure and suddenly your images are broken more so than it being a genuine leech of bandwidth.

what the above person said - i'd rather people not hotlink my site button in case i end up revamping my site and it breaks the image URL.

Yeah, seconding all that. Some people also encourage you to hotline their image when they are more confident in their file structure and like changing their buttons or adoptables. It also allows them to define what information they would want to attach to their link (like an alt description). I also would take a current hotlink over a future deadlink, so seeing a missing image helps me take not of shutdowns.

After much painful deliberation, I've decided that, if I don't get an offer from someone to take over as admin for the Autists Online webring by the end of February 16th, it will be deleted. (Remember to email me at azure.webmaster@proton.me if you're interested in taking over!)

After gathering quite the backlog, I've added a LOT of new video essay recs to my TV page! The number of recs over doubled in size! https://ballonlea.net/tv I highly recommend browsing through everything, and checking out whatever catches your eye! :>

Also: please know that even the videos with the stranger titles, I recommend in fullhearted earnestness. To name two examples, "Untangling the Web: The Fire Alarm Community" and "On the Ethics of Boinking Animal People" both conclude with a very profound messages about neurodivergency and being true to one's self. Both of 'em left me misty-eyed! There's also an under-1,000-view BANGER in there.
