Do people tend to unfollow you if they follow and you don’t interact of respond? I noticed new followers appear but my actual follow number is basically always the same.. Mystifying

I’d like to interact with people on neocities more.. I’m just tired and a situation involving another user in the past year freaked me out so I’ve been withdrawn

same, but i do think some people delete their accounts sometimes. i try not to let the social media norms of having to interact with followers to keep them get in the way of enjoying this platform though

don't worry too much about the numbers. it goes up and down all the time because people turn their profiles off. if someone unfollows you because you didn't f4f, they weren't interested in you or your work anyway so it's not a loss.

i feel like nc has a strong "follow for follow" culture---i've followed people who immediately follow me back, and then i lose interest in their site, unfollow, and they'll unfollow pretty quickly. enough people turn on/off profiles & delete their websites, which continues to mess with follow counts.
