i also stepped away for a moment to make Existential Crisis Scones and listen to my "Inauguration Day 2017" Devo playlist.
So glad i do neocities over git. There's a local copy at my machine, remote copy at the git repo and another copy that y'all see. The 3-2-1 backup rule is *almost* figured by just this. Highly recommended
this is how I find out that not everybody is building on their desktop and then uploading files
@maxcrunch i used to do it that way but i decided that made it way too easy to say "this sucks" and delete stuff.
Relative to AI adoption on neocities: kyle added a feature to the backend 2 months ago that autocreates an AI scraper-blocking ROBOTS.TXT for new accounts. That was a nice thing to see.
I don't mean to sound rude, but isn't this kind of an overreaction? I mean, if nothing else, implying Kyle would do that does not make you look good. Kyle rarely ever deletes any site. Regardless, everyone should have a local backup as that's just bad practice.
@foureleven deleting people who disagree with you tends to be the one subject that everyone in the tech sector can agree on, so a degree of caution is advised.
i've seen matt mullenweg delete more inoffensive tumblr accounts for no reason other than he didn't like them, so you can imagine i'd be a little touchy about this subject.
@badgraph1csghost Yeah I suppose there's always some degree of caution to be had with techbros.
SCROTUS I'm so here for this
bals
Scrotus Maximus: derogatory name for Donald Trump while holding presidential power. etymology: a combination of "SCROTUS" (acr. "so-called ruler of the united states") and "maximus", Latin for "supreme".
first attested use of "SCROTUS" was in an 11 February 2017 tweet from Sherry Frost (@frostnhstaterep): "DING, DING, DING! Here it is; THIS is what we've been looking for. New word: SCROTUS (So Called Ruler of the United States)"
first attested use of "Scrotus Maximus" was in a 19 Apr 2017 tumblr reblog by me (so far as i know)
