yeah, it seems like i’m younger than you, but i also really miss the online ecosystem from when i was a kid… the ffn forums, deviantart, my specific little hellish corner of tumblr… looking back at those places, it’s like a ghost town of broken links and conversations where i don’t recognize myself. the recent shutdown of omegle and the news about tumblr is also getting to me, the impermanence of it all…
@daughterofbilitis I've been trying to figure out how exactly this happened, because even in the mid-late 2010s it wasn't that bad! Even after Facebook was introduced and LJ users migrated to Tumblr there were still active pockets on other sites, but after lockdown it seems more people abandoned those... Even some Japanese fanart sites still online moved to Twitter.
