Yeah I'm really not a fan of that weirdly snarky attitude they're going in with. :/ I can see what they're going with re: the mass unfollowing so they end up in the Top 8 (which makes sense since they want to bring visibility to people's sites) but I can ALSO see why people would be put off by it and the whole "if you agree with any criticism of the project you're GONE FOREVER" is not a good way to run anything.
(that said, I personally don't think stats like views or followers should matter that much or at all on neocities of all places... feels weirdly social media-y/clout chase-y for what is actually a static homepage host)
honestly i'm just watching this from far away and im laughing my ass off lololol, they act as if they're doing a favor for the community showcasing "lesser known websites" as if those features weren't already built into neocities, and as if getting to connect with other people on here was super difficult, like it's actually really easy to find likeminded people to follow you by participating in webrings etc...
"oh but people don't actually use the activity tab or sort by last updated" how out of touch are you with the neocities community lmao ppl who actually are active on here often are browsing through other people's sites
Yeah the acting like they're doing a favor and it's some kind of humanitarian mission (I think they said something like "our attitude shouldn't impact your wish to help people [get views on Neocities]" like huh?) is super weird to me. It's just websites? Viewcount doesn't (and shouldn't!) even matter on Neocities, what do you even DO with Neocities clout
anywhoo, my real commentary after having read things thru: i can understand why f+f wants to be in the top 8, but i can also be principally against how they got up there. just feels dishonest even if its for the point of showcasing other peoples' sites. i also found it weird they basically said people don't actually use the last updated tag when the argument they bring up can be used to argue the opposite
like, i dont even remember if they brought up an argument for people not using the activity/last updated tab aside from "trust me bro"
NGL the moment they blocked me in January for criticizing their refusal to have a Q&A form or a guestbook to answer questions I knew they were cooked and social media poisoned...
"Please suggest things to help our project improve!" "*several people do so*" "No ๐"
This is crazy - I remember talking with them briefly when the project was really new (I saw it stalking the last updated page lol) and they always gave me weird-ass vibes.
literally someone please explain to me whats going on, i just looked at federifadskjfds page
Agree. It sounded like a cool idea from the start but it's quickly turned into the kind of dramatic nonsense I see on Twitter. Don't have the patience for that
i have enough of a lack of impulse control to yap the truth on their profile its so fun
Apologies if it's rude to butt in here, but ":("? That's it, no change? You know that could give someone a seizure, right?
absolutely. (lemonade emoji)
