love it, this looks like a great resource because I've been meaning to research related topics and found myself confused. this is easy to read.
Sci-hub is one of the best ways to get past academic paywalls. Blocking scripts also works for newspaper paywalls, the article loads as html but the javascript paywall doesn't.
The change became apparent from the mid 2000's onward, but became a real problem in 2008 - fan sites and fan forums disappeared or became inactive, we lost free hosts like geocities, etc. I used to run a Star Wars fansite from around 2003 and by 2008, mine was one of the few that still around. It only changed because the company that I used as a host became quite bad and I was at uni at the time so I wasn't able to
give it the attention that it deserved. I do still have all the files and what-not, so I might be able to get it online again. Websites are also more complicated now as people try to use software they don't know how to maintain. The old web was much simpler.
