Quotes from Ursula le Guin pop up everywhere. She is good at taking apart things that we take for granted even with all our progressive views. My favourite is her quote re banality of evil/boredom of pain (from Omelas).

My only touchpoint with Earthsea is a 2006 Hayao Miyazaki adaptation called "Tales from Earthsea". I enjoyed the film a lot. I dunno how to talk about it without spoilers besides saying it has a lot of dreamlike body horror. I don't know how it stacks up against the books, but maybe I should give them a try!

Oh hey, I found out what happened to HTML comment boxes, I think; sadly I don't have any kind of fix, though. It's the shift from displaying */page.html to */page for everything, I guess that threw some of the comment thingies for a loop. In case you were still wondering what was going on with that. That would explain why you can still see them on the dashboard and such and just not on the pages themselves.

Also having this problem — thanks for the tip! Do you know of a workaround or is it just broken?

Thanks, Pret! I saw that neo had dropped ".html" on pages but didn't make the connection that it might have thrown a wrench into htmlcommentbox. I guess going forward the comments on new posts will work as they should, and the old stuff is lost to the hot, burning furnace of time

If that’s the case, one solution could be to copy the comments to those pages manually. Depends on how much you want it I guess

More on this. I checked the Comment box website again and found there is a way to transfer comments to a new URL. Preternaturally was right. I chose a Terry Pratchett review that had a comment and transferred it from the old URL with the .html to the same URL without it and my comments appeared back on the page immediately. So, that's the solution!

It's good to know someone still has the monstrous klaxons hooked up to ZOOP every time I do something on here!! I should use this site for something, it was a cool layout and FORMAT and all of that. I think I will now waste the day remaking it in the new LUS 2023 image all the LUS fans have been clamouring after all these years. Thank you for your continuing weekly donation, doctor nononsense. : )

I just did a check of a few reviews I remembered had received comments on our website and discovered, like you said, they are now gone.

must have been something with html comment box in general?

I logged into their website. All the comments are still there. I suspect it has something to do with timing. Your comments on my latest review are there but comments from before the new year are gone. Maybe it's because we're cheapskates and don't pay for the service?

Very possible. I have the same situation; can see old comments in the dashboard, but not on the articles themselves
