I was reading a Twitter tread that there seems to be proof that the Blockchain code was only there to prevent excessive battery drain and random ID numbers for the players, these IDs modify gameplay and are related to some gameplay mechanics, however, can't confirm.

depends on what kind of place you live in really. If you live in space, get the Quest. If you live in the middle of Tokyo, get that bike. Simple.
